Asheville, NC

Tuesday we drove thru  the Smoky MT NP and stopped at one place we had not seen before,  an  old grist mill.   Then it was on to the Blue Ridge Parkway and about 90 miles to Asheville.  The day was sunny and clear so we could see a lot of the mountains this time.   We stayed Tuesday night at the Bear Creek campground.  It was the most expensive so far at $40 for a night.   We will probably be heading home now.  Here are some photos.

Smoky Mountain National Park, Townsend, TN

Left Gulf State park Sunday morning.   Stayed Sunday night at Oak Mountain State Park, outside Birmingham,AL.  It is a beautiful park, Alabama's largest state park with 10000 acres.  It has a golf course and riding stable with many hiking and biking trails.  Today, Monday we drove to Townsend, TN, just outside Smoky Mountain NP.  We are presently at Mountaineer Campground  camped by a river.    Here are the photos taken at Oak Mountain state park.

Still at Gulf State Park

Not much new,  It turned colder here and some wind.   There is no clouds in the sky and it may get to 70 today. Yesterday we did the same as before, rode bikes, hiked on trails, and walked the beach.   We went to the beach downtown,  Gulf Shores, AL.  There is more people and palm trees there.  Had pizza at pizza hut.  Here are the photos.  Tomorrow we leave Gulf state park after having been here 5 nights.
