Day 21 More Olympic NP

We walked through the Hoh rain forest in Olympic National Park. It was fantastic, couldn't decide which pics to send, so just posted one of the phone booth. All the trees and everything else was covered with moss. We went from there to the section of the National Park that borders the Pacific ocean. We stopped at Ruby Beach where these pictures were taken of the rocks and surf and had lunch. It had been almost 40 years sense we had seen this ocean. We headed on down the coast stopping at Grayland beach State Park, still in Washington. It has a very wide beach, but not near as interesting as what we saw in the National Park.

Day 20 Olympic National Park

Took another ferry crossing today, this time with the camper. We are now camped in Olympic National Park. These 3 pictures were all taken in the park. We happened on this beautiful rainbow driving along Cresent lake. The owl was seen while driving on the road back to Olympic Park Huh rain forest. The bull elk was in our campground when we arrived. Also we are back in the wilderness, and still have internet access. Some National Parks have cell phone service at the visitor centers, and that is what I use for internet service.

Day 19 San Juan Islands

Today we headed for Anacortes not knowing whether or not to take the ferry out to the San Juan islands. It had been raining all morning and it was cold. The ferry rates were not too bad, so we decided to go. One of the following pics show the 2 ferries where we had to switch ferries at Lopez island. Then we went on to San Juan island where we had lunch at the town of Friday Harbor, looking out over the harbor as shown in one of the pics. We met Marty on the second ferry, and he told us everything we needed to know about the San Juan islands. He also lives in the town of Friday Harbor. We wanted to go whale watching on the other side of San Juan island, but the place to watch was 10 miles on the other side of the island. This is the off season so the only way way to get there was taxi or rent a car, all too expensive. At 4:15 we caught the ferry back to our starting point. These ferries, the biggest one can haul 2000 persons and 200 cars. It was a great ride, very few people. The islands are very pretty, probably better if the sun was out, and not raining. Tonight we are camped in an RV park that is part of an Indian Casino. Haven't went gambling yet. Tomorrow we put the truck on another ferry and head across this body of water, on the way to Olympic National Park. This will be another area without internet access, so I don't think I will be able to post anything for several days.
