Yesterday, as we were driving down I80 we seen the signs for the Bonneville Speedway in Utah, a few miles from the Nevada line. We decided to have lunch there. After lunch we drove the camper onto the actual 10 mile speedway for 3 miles and turned around and came back. Then drove on to Battle Mountain, Nevada. We stayed at the Flying J campground and casino. They gave us $2 coupon for the casino, so we found out it was senior night and the casino gave us $4 more. It took almost 30 minutes to loose it all. So much for our nights entertainment.
Just learned a valuable lesson. You should not walk or ride a bike on the low growing ground cover in this campground. It is some kind of cacti. It sticks to shoes and gets in the camper and then I step in it. OUCH!!! I got to go and fix a flat tire on my bike also thanks cacti.

Antelope Island state park
We are camping at Antelope Island st. pk. close to Salt Lake city, Utah. This island is out in the Great salt Lake connected by a 7 mile causeway. I am getting a very weak signal out here as it is probably over 10 miles to the nearest cell tower. we drove around the island seeing all the bison, antelope and other wildlife. It is an extremely beautiful place surrounded by mountains. The weather is perfect in the 80's. We went swimming in the salt lake, or maybe I should say floating. The salt lake is a lot saltier than the ocean. They say the ocean is 3 % and this salt lake varies from 8 to 26% salinity. This means that you can float on your back very easy.

Green river, Wy Tex's travel camp
Yesterday we continued west on I80 past many windmills and lots of pronghorn antelope, stopping at the highest point on I80, 8640 ft. where we visited the Lincoln highway rest area and museum. This section was part of the old highway US 30. We left there with intentions of seeing wild horses around Rock Creek, WY. The loop was a back stone road so we went on. Stayed the night in Green River at a crowded park.

Camping in Cheyenne, WY
Stayed overnight in Cheyenne at the AB campground. The only unusual thing seen on our travels yesterday, was Barb seeing a one hump camel grazing out in a field. I missed it. Ate pulled pork at campground restaurant and walked all over the campground. We will be on our way in a few hours heading for Salt lake city. No pictures today.

Windmill state rec area
We are at Windmill state rec area. This campground is just off I80 close to Gibbon, Nebraska. Last evening we checked out the windmills (both of them) and being Friday night went out to eat in downtown Gibbon. It is an old town with brick streets. We ate at the Sportsman bar and grille. It was buffet night with all you can eat for 8.50. Loved the fried chicken and the shrimp. It stormed in the middle of the night with lightning and heavy rain. This morning it is beautiful. Here are a few pics, as I have figured out how to upload them.

New trip to California started Sep 21
We left home Tuesday for a trip to hopefully Yosemite NP. Tuesday night we stayed st Tomorrows Stars Campground in Springfield, OH. On Wednesday we traveled through rain in Indianapolis and on to Le Roy, Ill where we stayed at Moraine View state park. We had a beautiful campsite on Dawson Lake. Today we traveled west, with a terrible side wind on I80. We found a campsite on another lake. The campground is Rock creek State Park, outside of Kellogg, Iowa. It started a light rain after we arrived. I tried to upload some pictures, but this is the new improved blogger and I am having trouble. Maybe I will have better luck next blog.
