Koreshan State Historic Site

We checked in to a campsite at Korechan State Historic Site. It is about 25 miles from Fort Myers Beach. We are here for 4 days, leaving Thursday and going back to Myakka State Park, for 2 days. Yesterday we spent some time at Lover's Key State Park, on the beach. They don't have camping there. It is a famous beach. It was number 4 out of 10 travel channel's best Florida beaches and sure is pretty, We really enjoyed it. We are camped close to another river and maybe tomorrow would like to take a kayak down the river to the Estero bay. They rent for $17 for 3 hours. Seen the historic site today, very interesting. We walked threw a forest of bamboo. It is very hot, hot and sunny and is still 76 at 9 PM.

Fort Myers Beach RV resort

Spent 2 nights at this RV resort. Nice, but we prefer State parks. Drove out to Sanibel island yesterday to hit the beach, very crowded. It cost $6 to cross the bridge and $4 to park for 2 hours. Went to restaurant next door to resort, very good seafood. Also been riding bikes all over the resort. It has been very warm without a cloud in the sky.

Swimming pool at Fort Myers RV Beach RV resort and I did swim in it. heated pool.

Oscar Scherer State Park

We have been camped at Oscar Scherer state park for 2 nights. Beautiful campground. Wish we could stay longer, but all booked up for weekend. We been riding bikes and went to beach yesterday. Stopped on way back to campsite and got Orange ice cream cones at Nokomis groves, which was recomended by our neighbor at home. Very good. We move on today to Fort Myers beach campground. It is a private campground. We have a campsite reserved for 2 nights.

Myakka State Park

We stayed at Myakka state park last night. The pictures of wildlife were all seen in the wild close to our campsite. The bird with the fish is an Anhinga. It had just caught the fish and finally swallowed it whole. Left Myakka state park and went to Oscar Scherer state park. Rode bikes on the trails today. Talked to couple out riding bikes and they wanted to see camper and find out all about it. Made reservations for weekend at private campground at Fort Meyers beach. Couldn't come up with any sites at State parks, all booked up.

Little Manatee River State Park

I guess it is about time to start our travel blog again. Here is how it went so far. Left home Mar 21 and stayed the first night at Kentucky Horse park, at Lexington, Kentucky. The second day we drove to Fort Mountain State Park in north Georgia. The third day we made it to Florida staying at Lee's campground in White Springs, FL. Wanted to stay in the state park there, but was full. On the forth day we made it to Little Manatee River St. Park, where we are now. Yesterday rode bikes all around the park for a couple of hours. Been a little cool, but think it is going to warm up nicely today. Nothing exciting to report.
